BLOG : First Tournament on The Slopes
On a beautiful June morning, with dew on the grass and discs in their trunks, players arrived from all over Southern Ontario to take to the hills and valleys of the best of Uxbridge.
The inaugural Trail Hub Open did not disappoint- not even close.
After an impassioned players meeting, hosted by WolfKat’s own, Jay de Jager, the discs took to the skies. Did they all hit fairways? Also- not even close. Some players might even say they hit more trees than grass. After the first round, spirits were high as players headed up to the chalet for a rest and a view. Later, they headed down to The Handlebar Grill for some delicious pre-ordered lunch options that gave players just enough energy to head back out for their second round of the day.
After heading up the hill for the last time on that beautiful June day, seven of the eight divisions ended in regulation, but the MA2 division headed to a two hole playoff. As Matthew Hart and Chris Martino headed down the hill on hole 1 after their initial drives, hopes were high for each player that they could take home the trophy. After matching each other on one, the two remaining players in the tournament headed up to hole 17, where eventually, Hart was crowned Trail Hub Open 2024 MA2 Champion.
Congratulations to all participants- winners, finalists, and those who know that our great game is so much more than the score.
Oh, and what do you say about the trophies? We thought that the boots would be a nice nostalgic throwback to the old SkyLoft ski resort which Trail Hub currently sits on. Do you think they were a nice touch or a touch of tacky? Depends on who you ask, we suppose!
Did you have a blast playing the Trail Hub Open? The player’s Feedback Form let us know most players had a great time. We took your feedback very seriously and had made some adjustments to the course and to food offerings that will sure to please!
See you on the slopes!
Look out for the WolfKat Classic which opened on Monday, August 12th, 2024, for your next chance to play at this bewitching, beauty of a course.
